Center for the Development of Democracy, Kyiv, Ukraine

The Center for the Development of Democracy was founded in 2003 to promote democracy in Ukraine. The Center engages women in the local community, fosters collaboration amongst Ukrainian NGOs, and strengthens civil society throughout the nation. The Center also provides consultations for children who are at risk of HIV/AIDS, and runs a leadership program called “State which hears children,” a forum that introduces children to decision-making.


Territory Mothers, Vinnitsa, Ukraine

Territory Mothers.jpgTerritory Mothers serves families in the Vinnitsa region of Ukraine by championing mothers. Established in 2012, the organization creates spaces for young mothers to share their experience and expertise with each other in addition to providing services such as trainings, conferences, seminars, information resources, and legal support to young mothers in the workforce. Territory Mothers promotes opportunities for young parents through supporting mothers while promoting the crucial role of fatherhood in solving social issues. Their mission is to inspire happy parenting as a means to support women's development.


Volyn Prospects, Volyn Region, Ukraine

Volyn Prospects was founded in 2001 to combat gender-based violence and discrimination against women in all its forms. The organization tackles a broad range of gendered issues from human and human organ trafficking to domestic violence. Volyn combats these issues through promoting rural entrepreneurship, such as green tourism, and educating the public of their legal rights using innovative information technologies. The organization’s on-staff lawyer and psychologist provide access to counseling for victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. Additional services include a telephone help line for the victims and ongoing seminars for unemployed individuals.

Projection Success, Lvov, Ukraine

Founded in 2014, Projection Success uses education to empower citizens to protect their national, socio-economic and personal interests. Projection Success organizes educational programs and seminars, such as Social TV, to promote self-education among young people. The organization collaborates with local and international organizations to arm young people with knowledge of legal rights, political participation and the power of lobbying. Successful programs include facilitating collaboration between youth and government representatives and moderating discussion clubs and forums for young people to exercise their involvement in local issues.

Successful Woman, Kherson, Ukraine

Since 2000, Successful Woman has been educating women in its local community of the rights and opportunities they are afforded. With a mission to promote gender equality through economic empowerment, political participation and active citizenship, Successful Woman encourages women to be educated in all spheres of life, from healthy lifestyles to social responsibilities and professional skills. Working on both the individual and national levels, Successful Woman encourages each woman to live the most successful lives they can, while creating dialogue between its members and local government agencies to create nationally codified change for Ukrainian women.

Kharkiv Regional Gender Resource Center is a gender-based violence, legal rights, and women’s leadership organization. Founded in 2008, the Center promotes gender equality in Ukrainian society by challenging the stereotypical social roles among men and women. In an impressive milestone, the Center created the first Ukrainian gender museum, The Museum of Gender and Women’s History. The museum fosters greater public understanding of gender issues both in Ukraine and internationally.

PP Interaction, Zaporizhia, Ukraine

PP Interaction.jpgFounded in 2004, PP Interaction’s mission is to protect social and professional public interests through the incorporation of psychology and psychoanalysis. PP Interaction organizes seminars and lectures to promote the revival of the Ukrainian school of philosophical and applied psychoanalysis. Informational-Educational Center Axis, Vinnitsa, Ukraine

Informational Educational Center Axis was founded in 2010 to protect human rights, fight discrimination against women and represent socially vulnerable groups. In order to bolster the protection of unrepresented and socially discriminated groups, the Axis contributes articles to the local newspaper and organizes activities to counter discrimination and protect human rights.

Caritas Sambirsko Drohobych Diocese of the UGCC is a charitable non-profit foundation, established in 1994. Deriving their name, “Caritas,” from ancient Greek meaning “merciful love,” the organization helps Ukrainians facing the most desperate circumstances. Many who receive services are battling alcoholism, drug abuse, are HIV positive, or are victims of human trafficking. Caritas serves any and all in need, assisting them beyond the basic necessities.

OZHIS, Kirovohad, Ukraine

OZHIS was founded in 1997 to prevent domestic violence, increase women’s awareness of human trafficking and promote national gender equality. OZHIS coordinates local events with other women’s organizations in the region and leads projects on the pressing issues that affect women in the area. In one particularly notable program, the organization led an initiative to improve the quality of life of senior women by providing lectures, Internet networks and educational activities so that the women could obtain new social and life skills.


Rozrada, Kyiv, Ukraine

Rozrada.jpgRozrada is a Kyiv-based center for psychology, spreading conflict resolution tactics and promoting peaceful coexistence. The organization has been serving the Ukrainian public since 2007 with successful programs for training policemen, social workers and medical professionals in dealing with human trafficking and gender violence victims. With a particular focus on creating support systems for women and children. Rozrada also advocates for legislation against domestic violence.

The NGO inspires youth action by hosting workshops, social programs, campaigns and providing opportunities for personal growth and self-realization of socially active youth. With a focus on gender issues, Parity provides exclusive programs for women’s growth, conducting financial and entrepreneurial workshops for women to expand their opportunities and skills.

Miracle, Kyiv, Ukraine

Miracle has served Ukrainian women since 2014, battling gendered discrimination and providing holistic socio-psychological support for women. Miracle offers targeted support to women whose family members are in the service, providing support to face the unique challenges their circumstances present. Women's Information Consulting Center

Women's Info Consulting Ctr.jpgWomen’s Information Consulting Center is a non-profit organization established in 2000 by a group of enterprising women. WICC combats human trafficking and works to strengthen equal rights and freedoms of Ukrainians in Zhytomyr region. An organization with proven success in their region, WICC uses civic education to empower women to realize their potential.






Progressive Women

Progressive Women is a 20 year-old organization that battles gender inequality by exposing discrimination and promoting legal rights for women. They effectively run a regional hotline for victims of domestic violence and human trafficking in addition to providing psychological counseling and social support for those in need. Progressive Women encourages political activity, economic independence and leadership in women by hosting seminars and classes that focus on the improvement of personal skills as well as bring awareness of human trafficking and gender issues.

Experimental Creative Center is a children’s public organization established in 2003 to promote education for youth and women. The Center organizes educational programs to bring awareness about community violence, while also advocating for youth interests and holistic youth education. With a stated goal to achieve the maximum potential in every child by developing youths’ social, cultural, creative and national interests, the Center organizes local concerts, festivals and creative workshops for children and youth. The Center also fights against human trafficking, fosters awareness of gender issues and educates about community violence.

Open Society was established in 2006 to promote European integration in the region. Democratization, the role of public discourse, and gender equality are three of the main themes of Open Society’s mission. By promoting European integration through information technology training and social research, Open Society brings awareness of economic empowerment and legal rights of local women.

Association of Women Slavia, Cherkassy, Ukraine

Assoc of Women Slavia.jpgAssociation of Women Slavia is a local organization founded in 2000 to promote gender equality and democratic values. For 15 years, the association has vocally resisted gender discrimination. Slavia holds numerous programs to promote women’s rights through supporting women, involving them in regional organizations, and encouraging them to be active in public policies and local governments. With project funding by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund, Slavia also provides support for women going through divorce.

Gender Council

Gender Council is a local NGO established in 2007 to educate women on gender equality and economic empowerment. The Council promotes collaboration between local government and community leaders to advocate for women’s rights in the Ukrainian society and support women’s initiatives in economic and political spheres. The Council also conducts educational workshops and seminars to implement gender policies and promote the work of Center for Small Business



Faith, Hope, Love, Odessa, Ukraine
Faith Hope Love.jpgFaith, Hope, Love, is a local organization established in 1997 to support socially mistreated groups and promote healthy lifestyles. The organization works to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, STDs, and Tuberculosis among women and homeless children, providing counseling for those affected and educational seminars to prevent the further spread of disease. Faith, Hope, Love also offers legal support to and rehabilitation for the victims of psychological and physical violence.FB.jpg

La Strada.jpgLa Strada is an international women’s rights center established in 1997 with the mission to prevent human trafficking and promote gender equality both locally and internationally. La Strada partners with such organizations as UNICEF, Avon, UWF and European Choice, in joint efforts to educate children, youth and women on current issues. Invested in the implementation and improvement of state gender polices, the organization also conducts research on human trafficking, sexual exploitation of children and abuses of human rights. Direct services include a hotline to counteract child pornography as well as a hotline providing consultations on topics such as traveling safely, violence prevention, child rights, psychological counseling, and legal assistance.FB.jpg

Press-Clubs for Reforms, Kirovograd, Ukraine

Press-Club is a an independent part of the non-formal National Network of Press-clubs, created over 15 years ago in the framework of "All Ukrainian Reform Education Center" sponsored by the USAID. Kirovograd Press-Club works as an effective place for communication and exchange of information between all sectors of society: business, government and the community. Press-Club also creates powerful information campaigns, thus informing the general public opinion in the region.



Women of Western Donbass

A volunteer-led organization, “Women of Western Donbass” provides consulting, referral and information services to women’s initiatives in their local community. With a focus of empowering female immigrants, the registered charity works toward developing the potential of women, promoting women in positions of leadership, and encouraging gender quality and equal participation in all aspects of life.



Positive Women, Kyiv, Ukraine

In 2011, a council of 22 women representing 12 cities across Ukraine founded Positive Women, an organization dedicated to increasing the representation and opportunities for women affected by HIV/AIDS. Positive Women unites women affected by HIV/AIDS to develop leadership positions, promote empowerment, and ensure equal access to quality services. In addition to advocacy, the organization conducts information campaigns within Ukraine targeted specifically at women, and offers an online support group for women living with HIV/ AIDS.

The Novoukrainskiy District organization, Care, is a public organization uniting concerned citizens of all ages and social status interested in developing Ukrainian civil society as well as promoting human rights and education programs. Care was founded as part of an informal national network created as part of the "Foundation for Human Rights" and is still a field for effective communication among socially disadvantaged groups, government officials, social workers and a source of information for local media.Care works to represent and protect the rights of vulnerable populations, crafting training and advocacy programs to target such groups as the elderly, disabled youth, internally displaced persons, and women without access to reproductive health services.

Public Space.jpg Public Space systematically targets the development of civil society in Ukraine, highlighting public activity, presenting non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and their achievements, as well as establishing productive lines of communication. Public space provides a range of information, technology and advisory services to civil society. The portal acts as a platform to express opinions and suggestions to the public, serving as a catalyst for positive change throughout Ukrainian society.

All-Ukrainian League Legalife, Kirovograd Regional Branch

All_Ukr League.jpgThe Kirovograd Regional Branch of Legalife champions the rights and defends the health of sex workers in Ukraine. Legalife’s ultimate goal is to realize a society in which sex work is legal and sex workers are protected under the law without threat of police violence, stigma or discrimination. The organization’s services include: providing advice on the prevention of risky sexual behavior among sex workers and victims of trafficking and sexual violence; establishing cooperation with authorities and medical institutions; providing a platform upon which sex workers and former sex workers and their supporters can support, inspire, and grow together, protecting their rights and defending their political interests; documenting cases of violations of the rights of sex workers by the police in the 4th regions of Ukraine; and holding public lectures on prevention of STIs and human rights. Through advocacy, Legalife aims to foster a tolerant society in which sex workers are actively involved in solving problems that directly affect their lives and health.

Women's Information - Coordination Centre

Founded in 1999, the Women’s Information – Coordination Centre aims to raise the status of women in Ukraine through trainings, educational programs, and forums on the current state of the women’s movement. Tackling a variety of gendered issues, the Centre promotes civic initiatives, youth and healthy lifestyles, and educates on domestic violence and human trafficking in order to ultimately achieve gender equality in society.

The Civil Development Institute champions women’s equal participation in the economic and political sectors of Ukraine through direct training services for women. The organization teaches women how to develop their own businesses, trains women for executive roles, and teaches computer literacy courses in order for women to succeed and thrive in a competitive labor market.












Other, Kherson, Ukraine

Other brings together feminists, LGTB activists, and like-minded equal rights activists in solidarity and action. In an environment that incorporates creativity, social justice, and artistic expression, members of Other produce documentaries, art videos, commercials, plays and performances with themes of anti-discrimination and acceptance. The organization produces and distributes the feminist journal “Other.”


Foundation for Community Development, Kiev, Ukraine

Foundation for Comm Dev.jpgSince 2012, Foundation for Community Development has helped NGOs achieve sustainable development. The Foundation provides information, advice and logistical support to organizations. A few stand-out projects include the development of the Center of European Information, which is a source of information resources, panel discussions, lectures and debates for young people, organizing a meditation event promoting mental health for a group of internally displaced women, and collaborating with the Lutsk City Council to facilitate public access to administrative services, equipping a total of 83 libraries with free Wi-Fi and specialized computer programs.
